Mission

In the United States, pet overpopulation results in the unnecessary killing of millions of loving, adoptable dogs and cats every year. Since 2007, Friends of the Aspen Animal Shelter (FAAS) has dedicated its efforts to combating pet overpopulation and the consequences thereof.

Not only are we helping to address the spay/neuter needs of our city and county, we also are targeting the Ute and Navajo Indian reservations in the Four Corners region of Colorado, Utah and Arizona. This region has one of the highest euthanasia rates in the country. FAAS provides assistance by offering spay/neuter certificates to residents, supporting spay/neuter clinics, rescuing stray dogs and assisting with feral cat colonies. Because of our involvement, euthanasia rates have been greatly reduced.

In short, FAAS is addressing pet overpopulation in Aspen and beyond. We are Spaying it Forward with our free Spay/Neuter Program and providing a new lease on life for dogs and cats with otherwise bleak futures. Together, FAAS, the Aspen Animal Shelter and you are making a difference.
